When did your club green first open?

Updated: Jul 6, 2020

The Yorkshire CCGBA Yearbook lists all the greens in the Huddersfield area and includes some basic information about each one. One of those items is the date that each green was first opened. Of the 44 greens used in the Veteran's League, 28 have this date recorded, 16 are missing this piece of information.

I am compiling a history of the first 50 years of Veteran's League bowling and would like to include a complete list of opening dates of greens currently in our competition. The list below shows all 44 greens along with their opening date where known. Can you help to fill in any of the blanks?

Let's be realistic - you aren't very busy at the moment are you? Fancy doing a bit of research to uncover some of these missing dates? Maybe you know an old club member who might be able to recall that date or maybe some more old memories about your club and would welcome a phone call to ease their isolation a little.

I would be really grateful to receive any valid information about your club, or any other of the listed clubs, especially where that reveals the original opening date. I look forward to hearing from you. Thank you. Contact Us
