Two remaining 100% records under threat

Last chance for some bowling for a few weeks whilst we return to a home curfew so let's take a look at the action for this Tuesday which goes ahead as planned with a 12noon start time.

After just three weeks of fixtures there are only two teams with 100% playing records, one in each division. At Springwood the strong Clayton West outfit has featured the same four bowlers in each match to date and are expecting to be pushed all the way by Kirkheaton Con as they seek to retain top place.

A similar tight encounter is also expected at the Milnsbridge green where unbeaten Lowerhouses 'A' will take on former leaders Thorpe Green. Just one point separates the two teams and even a win may not be good enough for the winners to take over first place in the table as leaders Milnsbridge face bottom of the table Huddersfield Recreation Club 'B'. The Dalton v Lindley BC fixture completes the Milnsbridge Division programme with both teams holding a won-1 lost-1 record to date.

Over at Springwood the host team will be looking to bounce back from a first defeat of the season when they meet a Rastrick side which has featured the same four bowlers in each of their three matches to date whereas Springwood's rotation system has seen them give green-time to 10 different bowlers in their 3 matches.

The teams filling the bottom two places in the Springwood Division confront each other with Lowerhouses 'B' aiming to win their first point of the season whilst Huddersfield Recreation Club 'A' will have been heartened by last week's draw with Rastrick.

Following a few days of pretty persistent rain the weather forecast for Tuesday match time looks promising. The rain should cease late morning to leave a dry afternoon. Not much sun but temperatures are expected to be around 8 degrees.

Denby Dale and Meltham are the two teams sitting out this week and then we are all sitting it out until Lockdown2 is lifted and hopefully that will be 2 December. The news is that all areas will then start out at Tier 3 which allows outside organised sport, like bowling, to go ahead, so we are hopeful that we will be able to pick up our season then and catch up the postponed fixtures by bowling twice a week until early January.

The Tier 3 rules apply this Tuesday - keep the two metres social distance, use the sanitising liquids provided, no spectators and definitely no hugging! Enjoy your bowling and stay safe.
