Two more teams sign up for Winter League
Updated: Jul 30
Two more teams have applied to join the Winter League taking the total up to 14 teams now interested in playing in the first year of this new competition. Although new applications are only being placed on the waiting list at this time due to the uncertainty about BCGBA guidelines allowing the competition to start this October.
The stance taken by the HDVBA regarding the Winter League has no impact at all on arrangements to start in October. The Winter League will work independently of the HDVBA and only the BCGBA guidelines can stop it now.
The latest team applications come from Rastrick and Clayton West and they join teams from Springwood, Milnsbridge, Marsh United, Huddersfield Recreation Club (2 teams), Lowerhouses (2 teams), Denby Dale, Kirkheaton Con, Meltham, Thorpe Green and Lindley BC.
Once the future becomes a little clearer and we learn when competitive bowling is permitted then arrangements can be finalised for the new League where everything else is ready for an October start.
The League can take up to 16 four-man teams based on greens at Springwood and Milnsbridge if the rules allow bowlers to congregate in those numbers and competitive bowling be once again opened up. We are very much in the hands of the BCGBA but remain hopeful of seeing some Winter League bowling in 2020. Any team of four interested in joining the League or adding their name to the waiting list with no promises should get in touch now. Contact Us
