Surpise result in top of the table clash
Warm sunshine greeted bowlers for yesterday's set of League fixtures but that wasn't the only surprise of the day. Meltham have been the overwhelming favourites for the Milnsbridge Division title among the entries in the Winners & Losers competition. An opening day 5-1 win set them up for their top of the table clash with Thorpe Green this week. However the result didn't go as planned with the Winners & Losers fourth choice team from Thorpe Green coming up with a 4-2 surprise win which has thrown the race wide open.
Lindley BC built on the promise shown in the opening round of fixtures with a Week 2 success over the hosts from Milnsbridge. They shared the game points but took the 2 points for the better aggregate by 10 points and claim a 4-2 win. Lowerhouses 'A' opened their season with a white-wash win over Huddersfield Recreation Club 'B' who are still looking for their first win of the season.
Over on the Springwood green the hosts collected their second consecutive 4-2 win to sit at the top of the table with Huddersfield Recreation Club 'A' their latest victims. Clayton West played their first match of the season and claimed a white-wash win over Denby Dale in the southern derby whilst Kirkheaton Con opened their winning account beating Rastrick 5-1. Rastrick had started with a 6-0 win the previous week but only just avoided being on the other end of the same score this week by 1 point.
This week there were five 21-20 game scores spread across 5 matches with only the Springwood v Hudd.Rec.Club 'A' fixture failing to feature one. The Battle of the Sexes went the way of the gentlemen as they took a 4-1 advantage where there were head-to-head meetings.
