Sunshine, shadows and shorts on Test Day
Scroll to bottom of post for bowler comments as they are added.
We couldn't have wished for better weather for the opening event in the Winter League season. The 12 teams at Springwood and Milnsbridge enjoyed sunshine and shadows with a few smatterings of shorts as we test drove the arrangements for our first-ever bowling season in this new competition.
We learnt a few lessons, which was the objective of the day, but general feedback from the bowlers was very positive and the unique safety arrangements put in place seem to have worked in the main. Some things clearly didn't and whilst no major changes are expected there are likely to be a few tweaks to the setup ready for next Tuesday's opening set of League fixtures.
It would be great to get candid feedback from bowlers who played at both greens to help form a better picture of any concerns that anyone had as well as learning what people thought went well. Details of how you can do that are at the foot of this posting.
A number of photos taken at both greens will be appearing on the website over the week to add to the one on the homepage from Springwood and the one linked to this posting from Milnsbridge.
Thank you to both clubs for all the hard work put into making the arrangements as safe as possible for the visiting teams. Both greens played really well with the sunshine ensuring a fast surface to remind us all of what we have missed this year. But it wasn't just the greens as it was obvious that a substantial amount of work has been undertaken at both venues to the surrounds as well to make the visit all the more enjoyable.
We welcome feedback from anyone who bowled at either of the greens on Test Day so that we can make any amendments to make the next visit all the more enjoyable. Good and bad experiences are all welcome. Please use the 'Write a Comment' function at the foot of this posting although you will need to log in to do that or alternatively use the Contact Us form. Please include which green you were bowling at in any feedback.
