Memo from YCCGBA to all Greenkeepers

Memo From YCCGBA
Date 6th April 2020
TO ALL Districts Clubs and Bowlers
Districts Please ensure you pass this to all clubs and we recommend you get confirmation of receipt.
Clubs. Please wherever possible ensure your members see sight of this communication.
For the avoidance of doubt YCCGBA do not suggest that clubs stay open for social bowling, we recommend that all clubs remain closed whilst the current situation prevails.
Following a local incident where a greenkeeper was told to vacate his green by a member of their police force I sought guidance from my local MP, the response is below.
“The Government has set strict guidelines on travel allowing travel only when it is essential. Non-essential journeys and failure to adhere to the social distancing rules are matters for the police to enforce and they can be contacted on 101. It would be for your association or local clubs to deem whether they find this work ‘essential’, however, the clubs should remain closed until further notice. Should any work take place social distancing must be adhered to throughout. The medical and government advice is updated at least daily and is available at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus and www.gov.uk/coronavirus respectively. Please do read it regularly and encourage your friends and family to do the same”
I have also written to the Department of Culture Media and Sport for guidance, YCCGBA cannot give authority to clubs or greenkeepers but urge you to use your common sense and ensure the rules on social distancing are adhered to, in particular those over 70 and vulnerable to self-isolate.
I attach a guidance note from the R and A to golf greenkeepers after their consultation with the government. (Note this is for golf greenkeepers but there may be parts of this guidance appropriate to your situation)
A big thank you to all clubs that have paid their fees, as I mentioned previously YCCGBA have paid the BCGBA levy early to help their cashflow issues.
For those that haven’t paid can I ask you to do so, Mark, Alan and myself are finding we have an enormous workload with may questions, requests for information, the administration in recording unpaid fees is causing additional work when this time could be better spent.
Full Fees are due not just the BCGBA levy we can only send on to BCGBA if YCCGBA fees are paid.
These fees need to be sent to Mark Waite 7 Piperwell Close Heckmondwike WF16 9QF, you can also pay by BACS/Electronic transfer to Sort Code 09-01-53 Account number 47415482 Account YCCGBA reference should be your club name, if paying by BACS/Electronic transfer please also email Mark Waite at firstname.lastname@example.org
The executive where sent a survey from BCGBA concerning what events could be run and how they should approach the season in the current situation.
The Executive believe it is too early to make constructive comment on this as we do not know how long the lockdown will last. This was reported back to BCGBA
