Lockdown rules confusion
Updated: Aug 22
I am totally confused! Easily done I know but the latest set of rules around the local lockdown as they impact on bowling are far from clear to me.
I thought I had it sorted in my head that even after last week's announcement about Kirklees re-entering the lockdown phase that we would still be alright to have competitive bowling. I was as certain as I could be that 6 October would see us all on a green enjoying the start of the first set of fixtures in the new Winter League.
Then Alan Hobson directed me towards the West Yorkshire Police website and in particular the section answering the question ....
Can I still meet people outdoors?
In line with the national guidance, you can continue to meet in public outdoor spaces in groups of no more than six people, unless the group includes only people from two households.
So to my mind this now overtakes the earlier ruling that groups of 30 people were permitted. Or does this mean that you can have a group of 6 on a green playing with a total of no more than 30 people on or around the green. That was the clear ruling before last Thursday's announcement but now I am not so sure. As I said I am confused and looking for guidance once again.
What is your reading of the present situation? Do you have a different interpretation of the latest lockdown guidance or know where I could go to get some clearer guidance before 6 October preferably.
