This week's five in rotation order are....

Golcar Lib green all spruce and resplendent with a new Scorer's Shelter erected for use but like the green sadly underutilised. Thank you to Frank Greenwood for the photograph taken this month.

Roy Sutton of Meltham takes a breather whilst contesting the final of the 2019 Over-70s Pairs with his partner Barry Gibson. Match Referee Roy Tunnacliffe wishes he could join him on a hot day at Brockholes. Eventually they went down to the Lockwood Con pairing of Ronnie Manning and Eddie Haigh.

The Marsh United team that won the 1972 Play-Off Final against Moldgreen Con. In those early days of the League there were two Sections with no promotion or relegation in operation but the winners of each Section contested the Play-Off Final. This was held at ICI in this particular year on 5 September. There was a total cash prize fund of £33 with £22 going to the winning team and £11 to the runners-up. Handicaps were set by the Management Committee and Moldgreen Con had a handicap of +10 whilst Marsh United had +20. The line-up being (Back row Left to Right): N. Milnes, L Hardy, K Battye, A Scarfe (President), H Manson, J Taylor, T Stopford (Front Row): K Haigh, E Haigh, J Barker, L Thripland (Captain), D G Wood, L Earnshaw, L Rickards. I am beholding to Neil Hinchliffe for the photo of a photo.

An ariel view of the two Meltham greens. Thanks to Steve Haigh for the photo taken earlier this month from his drone 200feet in the air. This is a first for our website.

Leonard Tracey receives the Over-80s Trophy for winning the 2015 competition at Hemplow sponsored and presented by Alan & Pat Stephenson.
