5 New homepage photos
Updated: Jul 22
A new week and five new photos to rotate on the website's homepage and they are in playing order ....
A photo of a green at Harden Moss taken sometime between 1893 and 1916 at a hotel on Greenfield Road. Since this photo came to light we have had to revise our statement that the highest ever green in the Huddersfield area was at Scammonden (1,086feet above sea level). This one surpasses that at 1,179feet and was situated at the hotel which is no longer there although the building still is there as a private dwelling. Not the smoothest of greens with more waves than the Royal Family on a Bank Holiday Monday. More details about this green on tomorrow's website but meanwhile try and put a name to that hotel with its own green.
The New Mill green surround undergoing extensive alteration in 2008.
It is bowlers from Meltham v Lockwood Con in the 2016 Pairs KO Final at Almondbury Lib.
2015 Rose Bowl Champion Frank Griffin watches on as Paul Rangeley leads off on Finals Day at Marsh United.
It was 2017 when Town were in the Premier League and still had a two greens at their Canalside base. This photo captures the back green which was the Veteran's League team's home that season.
