Let us assume that bowling can begin again at the beginning of July as HDVBA seems to be planning for. As the HDVBA committee given any consideration to what might be another problem. My own club has a fairly large number of bowlers who are over the age of seventy and a number of them have medical conditions. I suspect that the same is probably true for many, if not all, clubs. These bowlers may well be reluctant to bowl even if they are allowed to do so in terms of covid 19 restrictions. This could mean that teams will struggle to raise ten or six man teams.
Given that the matches are going to be friendly matches and we want people to get a game I would make the following two suggestions to help overcome this problem. First, if both teams are short of players and have the same number of players then play the match in such a way, mixing singles and doubles matches, so that everyone gets a game. Second, if one team has more players than the other then allow some of the players from the team with the smaller number of players to play twice so that everyone in the team with more players gets a game.
